BECOMING INDISPENSABLE
Hi Great CEO of our generation,

I once defined great success as the ability to become INDISPENSABLE i.e. when people believe cannot do without you. In my view, the opposite of 'indispensable' is not dispensable; its actually DISPOSABLE (when people have an experience of you, use you & dump you because they no longer want you, need you or like you).

When people will go to any length (pay anything) to have you and keep you, then you've hit the mark. Remember Jacob in the scriptures? He hit the mark with his father-in-law Laban when he (Laban) asked Jacob to name his price.
Why? Because he had prospered so much, he needed a 'babalawo' (diviner) to tell him that he was blessed because God was with Jacob & Jacob was in Laban's household.

I love Jacob's response to his father-in-law; albeit quite a cocky response. He said, and I paraphrase, "Didn't you see (aka are you blind?) how the little you had when I came has become much & every area of your biz where you put me exploded exponentially?" Wow! What a cocky gentleman, but that's what happens when your Contribution or ATTRIBUTABLE IMPACT cannot be denied or disguised.

The greatest attribute of indispensable people is their capacity to become IMPERATIVE to the dreams & aspirations of their clients, employers, employees, spouse, or even neighbours.

Some people are simply bullet-proof (can't be fired or disposed) because you NEED them to achieve your goals, dreams & aspirations.
They are like a bridge or a ladder. U need them to get to the other side.

Interestingly, highly successful organisations can (and actually should) become so indispensable to the dreams and aspirations of their employees, that their employees would rather work for free (become volunteers, especially in down times) than get laid off.

I am blessed to experience this. Most of my staff came in as volunteers. Occassionally when things are 'tight' & we don't have enough to cover everyone's salaries, people literally compete to volunteer that their salaries to be withheld so that others can be paid.

This can be found in many churches, mosques, NGOs, social clubs etc. Its a spirit that comes from seeing that organisation as imperative to your dreams (eg getting to Heaven or reigning on earth). It happens when the organisation offers you a platform (not a JOB) to bring your dreams to pass; to do great things, to make a difference (and not just a living).

I wish we could see this spirit more in the corporate world of business & the marketplace & not just in the non-profit realm.

This is a huge challenge ahead for a CEO of our great generation like you, but I trust that you will be up to the task.

You can become Indispensable wherever you are but even more, you can build an Indispensable organisation. Hey! We can even build an 'indispensable' nation.

To build Nigeria into the world's most desirable nation to live in by 2025, we have 16 years to develop & attract the world greatest CEOs that will build Indispensable Institutions that will be the most desirable places to work.

Some of those CEOs are still currently in school, others in NYSC Orientation camps all over the nation, yet others could still yet be "unemployed" somewhere around the world. Of course, some of them could already own their businesses as I write.

One thing I know for sure. One of the world's greatest CEOs (in a just few years) is reading this right now. Could that be you??

Well then, go ahead and "Deliver The Future. U can. U must. U will."

This is just my thought. What do you think? Let me know. I'm interested.

If every body would reason the way you reason, then this nation can be great even
before 2025.the govt should educating the people about building the nation
individually, and not depending on them for everything.they should spend time

Whenever I read ur materials or listened to u, I fill fulfilled. It was recently
dt one Seth introduced me to ur slides and they have the power of indispensable
change. They make one find the latent abilities in him and spur the person to
act. Infact, it has given me insight into the need to organise a youth seminar
in my remote village. This I must do. After listening to one of ur speeches, I
just embarked on writing an article titled ' THE MINDSET OF A SUCCESSFUL MAN'.
Thanks for all you're doing. May God strenghten you the more.
