Following the death yesterday, of Nigeria’s President, Umaru Yar’adua, the nation’s leading inspirational speaker and nation builder, Fela Durotoye has called on Nigerians to mourn the death of the president and pray for his family.
In his official statement on the death of the president released in the early hours of today, Durotoye said, “Today, we mourn the passing away of our nation’s leader, President Umaru Musa Yar’adua”.
The Chief Inspiration Officer of Visible Impact, had just returned from an incredibly successful outing at the Redeemers University, where he spoke to a combined session of the students and also had a meeting with the wife of the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye.
The highly celebrated Pastor’s wife, fondly called ‘Mummy G.O’ had welcomed Durotoye warmly saying she had heard so many great things about him but had never met him. At the closed door meeting attended by only the duo and their personal assistants, they discussed the state of the educational system, and ways to improve the nation as a whole.
“So, I was really shocked when I got home and heard that the President had died. We must pray for his family”, Durotoye said.
He also called on Nigerians to join in praying for his family at this time.
Meanwhile, the three Nigerian flags and two Visible Impact flags here at the Visible Impact House in Lekki remain at half mast as the organisation joins the rest of the nation to observe the public holiday and seven days of mourning declared by the federal government.
Umaru Yar'Adua, the long-ailing president, died at about 9 pm in the presidential villa on Wednesday.
