People complain and nag about the business climate in Nigeria, companies shut down; staff are sacked and retrenched in a bid to make ends meet in a fluctuating economy. But then, some businesses still thrive; not because they are managed by educated people, not because they are not affected by the economic downturn, it is because they know what lots of other people do not know. If you fail in the days of trials, your strength is small- period!
Businesses perish because they are not managed well; they fail because basic principles and practices of management are not understood, and because most people do not know how to take advantage of changes and opportunities in their business environment.
An entrepreneur is someone who takes advantage of an opportunity to make profit. I will also like to classify a new type of entrepreneurs emerging, I call them social entrepreneurs. A social entrepreneur is someone who solves a social problem in a profitable way. An entrepreneur is like someone who starts a school for business. A social entrepreneur is someone who starts a school for the purpose of letting under-privileged kids gain admission into schools. Is the difference clear?
Another class is an intrapreneur. An intrapreneur is an entrepreneur who works for another entrepreneur. As a matter of fact, most employees will rather an intrapreneur work for them than an employee.
Locate yourself within these. If you are en employee, chances are than your mentality limits you in productivity, catch a vision of your future and launch your business.
