I want a Nigeria where ...
It's the eve of Nigeria's 49th Independence Anniversary.
A lot of us may feel that we have nothing to celebrate; some are of the opinion that Nigeria seems to be a perpetual under-achiever, yet to take its rightful place of respect and admiration among the global League of Nations.
While this may seem to be so, I'm of the opinion that we must be grateful that even though we're not where we want to be, we're definitely not where we used to be.
This deals with your goals. Your
goal is not a goal until it is documented. Any goal not documented is only a
wish. However note that we are not recognized and rewarded for having
beautifully crafted goals- we are rewarded for achieving them.
Most of us are lazy about goal
setting and like I said, it is not fun. It takes you sitting down with a pen
and paper and telling yourself in clear letters what you intend to achieve.
Especially if you are planning on doing a business, you need to understand the
importance of focusing on a particular line of business you want to launch your
business with.
Why do I
need to achieve it?
The why of doing your business is
almost as important as making a name in the business area? If your goal is to
lose particular KGs at the end of the year, why do you need to reduce the
weight at all?
When answering the why message, the
urgency and importance of the goal comes to life. The need to succeed becomes
important, as your challenges is clear, and the possibility of
achieving the desired goal also comes up.You need to answer this question.
Most times, the common complain
with people who have ideas is the problem of finances. Most peoples’ dreams eventually die because
they are waiting for and expecting one big money to land on their laps so that
they can pursue their passions- that only happens in movies.
There are numerous ways by which
you can raise funds for your business, if you are hungry enough to pursue it. But
firstly, you need to have a plan; the month of April will be dedicated to
developing a business plan.
SELF FINANCING:
I call this self financing as a way
to raising funds for your business on the premise that you understand you are
different from the business. What happens when you bring money out of your
savings or save money towards starting your business is that you are borrowing
the business some money or investing in the business to start.
The Business Clinic with Fela Durotoye continues gradually into the second month on STV morning programme (STV on air). In reaction to the massive amounts of email received about questions regarding business development, business idea generation, and business plan development including sourcing for funds for ideas, the programme is poised to address the questions in an apt and incisive manner. It became like the proverbial issue of a party where people who had caps do not have heads to put it on, and people who had heads came looking for caps.
