National Prayer chain kicks off  E-mail

National Prayer chain kicks off

The hugely anticipated National Prayer Chain Project finally kicked off on March 1, 2010 across Nigeria with citizens praying at the various watch hours of the day.

There could not be a better time to kick off the project than these trying times for the nation as she clocks the fifty year mark this year.

Flagging off the project, the initiator, Fela Durotoye had said, “We agree that Nigeria's been going through some trying and turbulent times. We can decide to be SPECTATORS of our nation's plight, COMMENTATORS of the constant unfolding of our politics or PARTICIPANTS; who will actively take a part in determining the fate of Nigeria. WE WILL PRAY AND ACT!”

The nation’s foremost nation builder recognises 2010 as “the year of Jubilee…the year of liberty” and notes that “the Scripture says "that if my people will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and heal their land”

He enjoined Nigerians to pray for the peace of the nation stressing that the children of Israel stayed in bondage for an extra 30 years because they had not prayed to Him; even though God had said they would be in Egypt for 400 years.

The National Prayer Chain Project (managed by Visible Impact Limited) is centered around the second stanza of the Nigerian national anthem which Durotoye, fondly called FD, refers to as “a nationally legislated prayer”.

“Oh God of Creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders' right
Help our youth, the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation
Where peace and justice shall reign”

“WHAT IF GOD ANSWERED THIS PRAYER?” he asked, “what would happen if all the elements of this prayer could be answered?”

Nigeria will UNDOUBTEDLY BECOME THE WORLD'S MOST DESIRABLE NATION TO LIVE IN. God has given a Word over Nigeria that "by December 31, 2025, Nigeria will be, undoubtedly, become the world's most desirable nation to live in"

Join us to pray this at different watch hours: Midnight, 3am, 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm

Project Raise supports Ofunneka’s book party  E-mail
Tuesday, 23 February 2010
Project Raise One Million, an initiative of Visible Impact has thrown its weight behind the forthcoming book party by Ofunneka Molokwu, the first runner-up of the 2008 edition of the Big Brother Africa reality TV show.

The aim of the Book Party being organised by Partnership of Engaged Minds (POEM), a collaboration of the Ofunneka Youth Empowerment Trust Fund and Women Sharing Network is to gather book donations which will be used to equip the library of Surulere Girls Secondary School in Lagos.

According to Fela Durotoye, CEO, Visible Impact and initiator of Project RAISE
(Revive Academic excellence In our Schools and Educational institutions), Ofunneka’s book party “is a laudable idea”.

According to him, “we are supporting her because it is in line with our vision to make Nigeria the world’s centre for academic excellence”.

Mr. Durotoye will be speaking at the Book Party billed for February 28, 2010 at the Recreational Park at Victoria Garden City in Lagos.

Project RAISE One million, an on-going project of Visible Impact, which is aimed at assisting one million students pass the JAMB UTME and WAEC exams has since partnered with Ofunneka on the project. RAISE One million is also supporting with volunteers as well as logistics and publicity for the book party.

Mickael Johnson, Project Manager for Project RAISE One million says “Project RAISE One million is a movement to help kids pass JAMB UTME and WAEC”.

Johnson believes that “Ofunneka’s idea of providing resource materials for kids is a welcome development. More so, the school she has selected falls under Lagos’ District IV, where we are currently piloting Project RAISE One million from”.

Each attendee is expected to come along with as many books as possible to be donated to kids between ages 11 - 18 and a sum of N1,000 for registration to cover the cost of refreshments at the party. Books on all fields are welcome, especially textbooks for Senior Secondary School students on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Commerce. Government e.t.c

MUSHIN MAKEOVER: HISTORY IS MADE!
It was probably the most anticipated nation building project of 2009.

It started as a simple God idea that came to Fela Durotoye sometime in October. It was at a Change Summit in Mushin. "God told me that MUSHIN is the place for Making Unique Stars and Heroes In Nigeria", said Fela Durotoye, the initiator of the project. He said at the meeting, he shared the idea of painting houses in the area, and "the whole place caught fire". The rest, as they say, is history.
